Clayton's ELL Program

Clayton Pre-AP Academy's ELL program has three main components:

TARGETED LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION
Clayton offers intermediate, advanced, and academic English language classes. These courses are designed to enable students to be successful in a mainstream classroom, and focus on language skills which are most essential to social, academic, and professional communication.

CONTENT AREA INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGN FOR ELLS
The ELL teacher and mainstream classroom teachers at Clayton work together as a team to design and implement instructional strategies for ELLs based on the 2012 WIDA ELD standards.

Progress Monitoring
Nevada's English Language Proficiency Assessment is the WIDA Access test. ELL students take the ELPA annually from the time of enrollment to the time that they are determined to be proficient and exit the ELL program. The test provides data on each student's skills in listening, reading, writing, and speaking, as well as language of the content areas.
